A great way to help out today's youth is to just spend time with them. Many young people today lack that connection to someone else (whether it be a mentor, relative, or close friend) to help through the difficult times of growing up. As a college student, being able to directly influence youth about something that you have recently experienced is impactful and another way to make a difference!

Being a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Whether it's becoming a school based mentor and seeing your "Little" during their lunch hour or being a community based mentor and taking them to the park, you'll find that the time is well worth it. Becoming a Big does require a commitment to developing a friendship. Located at 825 18th St., Charleston, IL.

Amigos and Friends is a volunteer opportunity coordinated through the Student Volunteer Center at Newman Catholic Center. Come help a Latino student or community member while making a new friend at the same time! Volunteers are needed on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10-11:30 pm.

The YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) celebrated its 150-year anniversary in 2001. Our Mattoon YMCA opened its doors in February 1988 after being chartered in 1982. The YMCA has a rich heritage, a Christian mission, and a tradition of values.
Volunteers are needed as youth sport coaches, help coordinate teen programming, fold and label newsletters and assist with special events.

Provides skills, instruction and games that allow boys and girls to participate in a team-oriented sport in order to promote sportsmanship, cooperation, self-improvement, and self esteem.
