Any institution that maintains on-campus housing facilities must maintain a fire log. The fire log must record any fire that occurred in an on-campus student housing facility. The log must include the nature, date, time, and general location of each fire. Fires must be recorded in the log within two business days.

Upon arrival, the Charleston Fire Department (CFD) entered the building. It was determined that the resident of the affected apartment had been cooking with grease in a hot frying pan on the stove. The resident briefly turned away, and when he returned, he discovered the grease had caught fire. The case is now closed. |
