Guest Artists 2015-2016

Greg Poljacik

Residency February 9, 2016 and March 28-31, 2016

In addition to being the inventor of the secret recipe for Gravity & Momentum’s stage blood products, Greg Poljacik has been working as a teacher and choreographer for over a decade. He has been instrumental in the training of thousands of theater students and professionals worldwide and has provided award winning choreography for over two dozen theater companies in Chicago. Currently Greg teaches stage combat at The Second City Training Center in Chicago and is a Research Consultant with the University of Chicago in the field of Cognitive/Behavioral Neuroscience as well as the resident Neuroscientist for the Kennedy Center for the Arts ArtsEge program. Greg also has been a guest lecturer at Columbia University Chicago and has taught at Regional workshops across the country, including co-coordinating the Winder Wonderland Workshop, the largest stage combat conference in the US. Greg is a teacher with the United Stuntmen’s Association, a member of SAG/AFTRA, the Society of American Fight Directors, AGMA, and LBP stunts Chicago. All of his work in the art of stage combat follows the principles of “Safety, Story, Substance.”

Under the direction of choreographer Carrie Hanson, they have worked with nationally recognized collaborators including the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE); composer/sound designers Richard Woodbury and Mikhail Fiksel; architect Joel Huffman; playwright Stuart Flack; visual artists Fraser Taylor and Anna Kunz; percussionist Timothy Daisy; and fashion designers Anke Loh and Maria Pinto. They have a lauded reputation for creating full-length works on issues such as the economic recession and the climate change debate. They have performed in Chicago at the MCA, the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, and The Dance Center, nationally in Missouri, Ohio, New York, Virginia, Wisconsin, and internationally in Canada, Russia, and Taiwan." - Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago News
