I will be a guest visiting EIU. What do I need to know about your Wi-Fi?
Eastern Illinois University manages wireless access through an application called FortiNAC. This application helps to secure the EIU network from out-of-date or compromised devices. FortiNAC will make sure your computer is running a compatible and updated antivirus program. Computers that do not meet these predefined requirements will be “quarantined” and users will be provided with instructions to update their system to the required configuration.
- Before coming to campus
- Your computer must have an antivirus program installed and running with up-to-date virus definitions.
- Your computer must have operating system updates enabled to automatically install.
- Upon your arrival to campus
- Connect to eiuwifi, as you would connect to any other wireless access
- You will be prompted to open a browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari) or it may automatically redirect you to EIU's Acceptable Use Policy
- Agree to the EIU Acceptable Use Policy
- You will be presented with a registration page where you may choose to register as a guest. (guest accounts are active for 24 hours) You must re-register as a guest after the 24 hours
- Register a guest account
- If already registered, choose Guest with an Account
At this point, you are ready to enjoy wireless access.
